Well, shoot...

It would appear that I've once again forgotten about my blogging. And it's the last week of class. And I need to have twelve blogs before next Wednesday. And I only have seven so far (eight if you count this one). I guess that means that I need to write one a day for the next few days. Joy!

So, it's the last week of classes. Actually, it's the last day of class. I'm looking forward to the summer, mainly because I then don't have to dread more work. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I realize that the work I had (have) to do isn't all that hard... I just need to sit down and do it. Blargg. With two g's. You know, it's that lava monster from Super Mario World. Don't believe me? Look.

Hmm... I appear to have gone off on a wild tangent. You see, this is my problem. I can't stay focused on a single thing. My mind wanders. This can be quite dangerous when I need to research something (ie. information for an English paper). Because of this tendency, I have fallen behind on my papers. I really should get working on those. Problem is, research means looking for stuff on the Internet (the school library has no information on the subject, believe me, I've checked). The problem with the Internet is it's so full of stuff. Fun and interesting things are just a single mouse click away. It's hard not to do so, especially in the wee hours of the morning, when I know I should be sleeping, but have forced myself to stay up to work on my work... only to fall to temptation and goof off. I really need to stop doing that. In the meantime, I'm gonna remind everyone that my tagline refers to

Slipsliding away.

It would appear that I'm slipping. I've fallen behind on my blog writing, on my English papers, I've missed a couple of Physics and Math assignments, and I haven't finished any of my Theo projects for over a month. I really need to pick up the slack here. I think this may be in part due to the past few weeks.
Last time you heard from me, it was the middle of spring break. Break was rather good, but I started slacking off on some of my work, partly due to very flaky Internet and partly due to my want of relaxing; it was break, after all. After that, we had a normal week. Rather, most people had a normal week. I, on the other hand, went on choir tour from Thursday through Sunday. For me, that was a short week, but the weekend was totally booked; I had no time to work on my homework. The following week was Holy Week, meaning we had Thursday and Friday off... again. This means that I've had three short or break weeks in a row, which threw me completely off. This is the first full week I've had since before Spring Break, and I'm just now getting back into the groove, reasserting the mindset needed for actually getting work done. Now all I have to do is catch up on all my missing work.
Hopefully I'll catch up, and then I'll get back to my regularly scheduled insights into

Stay tuned for these upcoming events…

It would appear that spring break is nearly at an end, which means that we are on the verge of yet another round of hectic life. Aside from normal school work to do, there are a few other things coming up. First up to bat is probably the biggest and toughest thing on my plate… Choir Tour. Next weekend, starting on Thursday, we will be leaving on tour, heading up to the Dallas area. We'll be back Monday, and then on Tuesday we'll have a local concert at the chapel on campus. It'll be a really good concert, so I hope you'll be able to come down.
Aside from choir tour, most other stuff is rather minor. A friend is having a birthday get-together, normal activities such as Frisbee and gamers club meetings will be starting back up again, etc. Another semi-major event is also slowly coming up, a game tournament, hosted by the Gamers Club. It is currently planed for the 10th of April, and it will consist of a Monopoly social, a knockout Super Smash Bros tournament, and various other board, card, and video games on the side. We are currently unsure if there will be any entrance fee, as we would like people's input as to how much they'd be willing to to donate. The fee, if there is any, will most likely be for the main tournament, and it will allow us to supply snacks for those who show up. Feel free to tell your friends. I'll try to keep you posted on other goings-on of

Help, I Think I've Gone Crazy Again!

These last few weeks have been extremely hectic, and I'm having trouble keeping up with everything that's been going on. We've started to pick up the pace on physics stuff, and we are now deeply entrenched in the world of electrostatics. C programing had a test earlier in the week. Theo has likewise been full, as has math and English. Ah, English. I am once again being tormented by English work, work that I should be sailing through. However, I have once again procrastinated, and due to this, I am scrambling to finish this work. My perfectionism has also cut in, and I felt the need to rewrite the entire essay from the beginning, writing around the additions I am including in this draft. Unfortunately, my mind keeps drifting, making it hard for me to work on one thing for more than five minutes, and time seems to be passing at an increasingly alarming rate. As I sit here, I am worrying about finishing this paper, but still distracted enough to not focus on it and ignore less important things such as my blog. Grr… stupid mind trying to worm it's way out of actual work. Hopefully I'll be able to finish this in a timely manner. I also hope that all of you out there are not stuck in similar predicaments. Hopefully next time I shall actually have something productive to say regarding…

Pledges, insanity and

I think I'm going insane. Well, more insane then I already am. While sitting in the ASC working on some homework, I noticed that there was a group of pledges sitting in front of Lucky's. Actually, it would have been hard for me NOT to notice. Every few minutes, a member of the sorority would walk up, and all the pledges would say, in unison, "Hello Ms. _________, I'm a happy Beta Alpha Sigma pledge" in a sickeningly cheerful voice. It's enough to drive people mad. The sad thing is, this is one of the least insulting things they have to go through. I have to ask why these people are willing to degrade themselves so much, just so they can quite literally buy themselves friends. The things that they go through are insulting, demeaning, and degrading. Why do they put up with it? Why would they willingly allow others to treat them as poorly as they do? It makes no sense.

Well, I've got to wrap up now. Hopefully this won't be found by any blood-thirsty sorority members, otherwise it may be rather difficult to bring you more musings on

Well then…

It appears that I very nearly forgot to update my blog this week. The only reason I remembered is because I was slacking off instead of doing my English homework. Speaking of which, I need to finish that.

Anyway, in other news, I appear to be procrastinating again. It's quite easy for me to fall into that habit. I dunno why. It's possibly my aversion to actual work. Then again, I also find that once I start something, I keep at it until it's done or until I get stuck, in which case I walk away for a while and find something to do. Unfortunately, this usually results in me not returning to the work so that I can finish it, starting the cycle all over again.

While typing this, I also remembered that I have physics homework due tomorrow, homework which I haven't even started, and I also have a test in physics at 9 in the morning. Great. Well, it seems like my procrastination has gotten the better of me. I failed to do any of the stuff that I needed to do during my free time today, and instead spent all the time goofing off.

Luckily for me, it's only 8 right now, so I still have some time until I need to get to sleep. I may end up working till 1 or 2, but I should be able to get it all done tonight. I should probably wrap this up now and get back to actual productive work. Hopefully next time there will be actual insight into…

Choral Happenings

Welcome back everyone. I guess I can actually say that, now that there are actually people who will be reading this. In this post, I shall be talking about the goings-on in the TLU Choir. So sit back, relax, and get ready for me to start talking about stuff.

If you didn't know, I am in the choir here at TLU. This is actually the first well organized choir that I've been in that emphasizes the actual singing together as a group. I've been in a church choir back home, but that was more or less just thrown together, with little emphasis on the meshing the voices together into a unified whole. This is quite an experience for me, and what an experience it is. Everything seems much fuller, much more dynamic. It's easier to understand what is being said. The feeling of the songs, the emotions being portrayed, everything about it is enhanced. It actually feels like everyone in the choir is part of something bigger.

Enough about the group, on to the songs we are covering in choir. During the Vespers concert last December, we covered a rather wide gambit of rather inspirational pieces, several fun ones, and a couple more serious songs. Of the songs done, I'd have to say that some of the best ones we did were Jabula Jesu, which was a Swahilian song, a rather ethereal rendition of Ave Maria, and Hodie Christus Natus Est. All of the songs were quite fun, although some were somewhat challenging. This semester, however, we are learning a number of new songs for our spring tour. Most of these songs are by Eric Whitacre, a composer known for his rather eccentric songs with dissonant chords. Let me tell you, these things are FULL of dissonant chords and odd rhythms. Because of this, many of these songs are proving quite difficult to learn, but we are making headway. We should be able to learn everything before we head out on tour. I hope all of you out there reading this get a chance to come out to some of our performances. It'll be worth it, trust me. Until then, keep contemplating the mysteries of…
