What a Pleasant Surprise

Had my first exam today (make that yesterday, it's after midnight), and I got a rather pleasant surprise… after handing out the tests, the professor took me aside and told me that I didn't have to take it, because I already had an A in the class and that in order to lose the A was to get a D on the test. I decided to take the test anyway, just for some practice, and I was done within half an hour. After turning it in, the professor took one look at it, gave it an A, then said that he'd look at it further in depth later. The class was C Programming with Hijazi, if anyone is interested.

In related news, we had a test last week in Physics. I was one of two people who got an A. Because of this, the teacher decided to give the class an extra-credit re-test, which I did fairly well on, giving me a rather solid A on that test, which brought my overall grade in the class to a high B. Now, all I need to do is get a 47% on the final for a B… or, if I feel really perky, a 97% for an A. Here's hoping…

In the meantime, I've got a Theo test tomorrow (today) at 8:30, and I have English and Math on Wednesday to look forward to… or not. Lets hope that the next few days go smoothly, and don't forget to swing by for more insights into…

Dead Week: What it means

Dead week started yesterday. This, of course, means 24 hour quiet hours. Apparently some people don't understand the quiet bit. Or is it the 24 hour bit that they are having trouble with? Needless to say, there were some people breaking this rule less than 6 hours after it was implemented.

The thing is, there were a number of parties last night, since today is reading day, and therefore there is no class today. I didn't attend any of these parties, but a good number of people in my dorm did. Apparently these parties started winding down around 3 or 4 in the morning. I know this because a number of drunk, rowdy, possibly high dorm-mates got back around then… and decided that they didn't want to sleep. They decided instead to hang out between Kraushaar and Knutson and, well, hang out. They did so by yelling, screaming, slamming doors, and more or less making a ruckus. My room is not to far from the door, and I could therefore hear just about everything they said. This went on for over half an hour. I was hoping that the RA would put an end to it (he would undoubtedly wake up from the noise, as he is in the room next to mine). As far as I know, he didn't, at least not for a while. After this half hour or so, I got fed up and decided that I'd call the campus police. However, as soon as I decided to act upon this, the drunkards decided to head inside; whether this was due to an RA finally doing something or because of the Campus Police, I'm not sure. I was just grateful that it was finally over… or so I thought. Unfortunately for me, one of my neighbors (not sure if it was the one next door or above me) decided that he wanted to watch TV with the volume up rather loud. I once again had to wait around half an hour before someone acted upon this and I could finally get back to sleep… at 6:00 this morning. So much for Dead Week being quiet week.

In other news, here's my tagline

Well, shoot...

It would appear that I've once again forgotten about my blogging. And it's the last week of class. And I need to have twelve blogs before next Wednesday. And I only have seven so far (eight if you count this one). I guess that means that I need to write one a day for the next few days. Joy!

So, it's the last week of classes. Actually, it's the last day of class. I'm looking forward to the summer, mainly because I then don't have to dread more work. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I realize that the work I had (have) to do isn't all that hard... I just need to sit down and do it. Blargg. With two g's. You know, it's that lava monster from Super Mario World. Don't believe me? Look.

Hmm... I appear to have gone off on a wild tangent. You see, this is my problem. I can't stay focused on a single thing. My mind wanders. This can be quite dangerous when I need to research something (ie. information for an English paper). Because of this tendency, I have fallen behind on my papers. I really should get working on those. Problem is, research means looking for stuff on the Internet (the school library has no information on the subject, believe me, I've checked). The problem with the Internet is it's so full of stuff. Fun and interesting things are just a single mouse click away. It's hard not to do so, especially in the wee hours of the morning, when I know I should be sleeping, but have forced myself to stay up to work on my work... only to fall to temptation and goof off. I really need to stop doing that. In the meantime, I'm gonna remind everyone that my tagline refers to

LIFE,
THE UNIVERSE,
AND EVERYTHING

Slipsliding away.

It would appear that I'm slipping. I've fallen behind on my blog writing, on my English papers, I've missed a couple of Physics and Math assignments, and I haven't finished any of my Theo projects for over a month. I really need to pick up the slack here. I think this may be in part due to the past few weeks.
Last time you heard from me, it was the middle of spring break. Break was rather good, but I started slacking off on some of my work, partly due to very flaky Internet and partly due to my want of relaxing; it was break, after all. After that, we had a normal week. Rather, most people had a normal week. I, on the other hand, went on choir tour from Thursday through Sunday. For me, that was a short week, but the weekend was totally booked; I had no time to work on my homework. The following week was Holy Week, meaning we had Thursday and Friday off... again. This means that I've had three short or break weeks in a row, which threw me completely off. This is the first full week I've had since before Spring Break, and I'm just now getting back into the groove, reasserting the mindset needed for actually getting work done. Now all I have to do is catch up on all my missing work.
Hopefully I'll catch up, and then I'll get back to my regularly scheduled insights into
LIFE,
THE UNIVERSE,
AND EVERYTHING.
